Female Breadwinners are 50% More Likely to Divorce — Let’s Talk

And most importantly, here’s what to do.

I’ll start by stating that I’m not shocked by this statistic (which originally came from a University of Chicago Study, and re-surfaced on Reddit).

There’s plenty of other literature supporting this statistic from Yale and Harvard as well.

Here’s an interesting excerpt from the U of Chicago study:

“A married woman earning more increases the probability of unhappiness in her union. Using data from 4,000 married couples surveyed as part of the US National Survey of Families and Households, the researchers show that the percentage of people who report being “very happy” with their marriage declines when a woman earns more money than her husband.”

And this, my friends, pretty much explains “why” female breadwinners are so unhappy:
