I for sure understand the sentiment regarding hiring/retaining and motivating employees. It's about puzzling to me how folks still don't (or barely work), yet everything is SO expensive!
Agreed on hiring within the family; that's basically what we're looking at doing!
I do think that the "not wanting to work" thing is kind of cultural and in pockets; there are some really good, hardworking folks with good values in more rural parts of Texas. I volunteer at a local farm, and a lot of the people there (and their kids) work really, really hard. So much of this is about finding the right people (which is hard), but they do exist!
