I Don’t Give a F*CK About Motivation, I like Discipline — You Should Too

Motivation is not a lost dog that you will find.

I recently went on a bit of an Instagram rant regarding motivation.

Everyone’s obsessed with motivation, and I find it perplexing.

Go on Youtube and you’ll see thousands of videos that range from morning routines for the “optimal, productive day” to videos about “finding motivation” as if it’s a lost pet that will somehow be “found”.

Side note: I find some of the “morning routines for motivation” videos entertaining; I still don’t see a correlation between kissing the ground/chanting positive affirmations at the sun and having a productive day, but that’s just me.

Hey, live and let live, right?

That said…what is motivation?

The dictionary definition is that motivation is “the general desire or willingness of someone to do something.”

I don’t know about you, but there are plenty of tasks during my day that I have no desire to complete — yet I complete them, as I recognize that not everything will be easy or enjoyable.

Pretty much every person reading this post can relate.
