If there’s one thing that’s consistent on Medium, it’s the number of writers complaining about the algorithm on this platform.

“The algorithm is affecting my earnings”, they say.

Maybe that’s true — or maybe it isn’t.

We have no way to validate that the algorithm is the true cause of the decline in views, and thus, less revenue.

As time goes on, new writers enter the scene, competition grows, and lastly, readers get bored and move on.

Think about it — do you actually follow and watch or read the content consistently from the same people you followed 5 years ago?

Probably not.

That said, relying solely (or primarily) on views or the algorithm Gods to work in your favor — is putting all of your eggs in one basket and will more than likely yield disappointing earnings.

Let’s talk about better ways to monetize.

You’ve heard it before, but I have no problem repeating it — affiliate marketing is an exceptional way to generate revenue.
